The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Offensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the offensive end of the court. This player not only has the ability and confidence to take and make big shots for his team, but is willing to share the basketball and put his teammates in position to score. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2010 OCA 11th Grade Boys Best Offensive Player Award is Kyle Kinnett from Harrison High School.
Kyle led the team in scoring this season at 10.4 points per game and finished second in assists at 3.4 per game. He led the team to a big win against Shining Star Sports in the AAU Division 1 State Championship Tournament with a three-pointer at the buzzer in overtime. He also finished the season strong by hitting 6 of his team high 74 three-pointers in the team’s last game of the season in the AAU Division 1 National Championship Tournament against the Detroit Fire.
When the game was on the line, I would get the ball in Kyle’s hands and trust him to make a play. He was always willing to take the big shot. This is an impressive and rare quality because not every player wants the ball in his hands at the end of the game; but no matter what Kyle always had confidence. Even if he misses 10 straight shots, he thinks the 11th one is going in. He has full confidence in himself, and I had full confidence in him. I expect Kyle to have a fantastic senior season at Harrison High School and to have the opportunity to continue his career on the next level. Congratulations Kyle!
