The Ohio Crossover Athletics Most Valuable Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on both ends of the floor and is indispensable to the team’s overall success. This player has talent, intelligence, work ethic, and leads by example on and off the court. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2010 OCA 11th Grade Boys Most Valuable Player Award is John Albertson from Little Miami High School.
John led the team in rebounding this season at 7 per game and finished second in scoring at nearly 10 points per game shooting a team high 51.3% from the field. He also was willing to sacrifice his body on the defensive end as he drew a team leading 12 charges this season. He was the most consistent player on the team and just got better and better as the season went on. John averaged 14 points and 8.3 rebounds per game during the AAU Super Showcase and AAU Division 1 National Championship Tournament highlighted by a 21 point, 10 rebound performance against the Jacksonville Suns.
I’m glad I had the opportunity to coach John this year. He had a fantastic season and I don’t know what we would have done without him. We relied on him so much. Whether we needed him to to score, grab rebounds, or get an important defensive stop, he always rose to the occasion. He is not only a great basketball player, but most importantly a great person. He’s a hard worker and represented our program in a first class manner on and off the court. I expect John to have a fantastic senior season at Little Miami High School and to have the opportunity to continue his career on the next level. Congratulations John!
