The Ohio Crossover Athletics Most Valuable Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on both ends of the floor and is indispensable to the team's overall success. This player has talent, intelligence, work ethic, and leads by example on and off the court. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2011 OCA 9th Grade Boys Most Valuable Player Award is Kyle Keszei from Glen Este High School.
When Kyle came in to the game the rest of the players fed off of the intensity that he displayed on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. We were a better team when he was in the game because he made everyone around him better. He didn't score the most points on the team, but his hustle and energy earned our team extra offensive possessions. Kyle was one of the team leaders in rebounding, assists, steals and increased his scoring average in the second half of the season. He also did so many things that don't show up in the box score. Whether it was taking a charge, diving for a loose ball, jumping to save a bad pass, or defending a bigger player, Kyle was always willing to sacrifice his body to help the team.
I'm glad I had the opportunity to coach Kyle this year. He only knows one way to play the game of basketball and that is full speed all of the time. He's a hard worker and represented our program in a first class manner on and off the court. I expect Kyle to have a great sophomore season at Glen Este High School and hope that he chooses OCA again next year. Congratulations Kyle!
