The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Defensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the defensive end of the court. This player through effort, hard work, and ability is able to disrupt the opposing team and take them out of their offense by shutting down his opponent one-on-one or contributing to his team's success with great help side defense. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2011 OCA 7th Grade Boys Best Defensive Player Award is Isaiah Andrews from John Paul II Middle School.
Isaiah is an aggressive, physical player that works very hard on defense. He enjoyed the challenge of defending the opposing team's best player. His great ball pressure helped to force turnovers, deflect passes, and he was always willing to step in to take a charge. He was also the best rebounding guard on the team.
I believe that Isaiah will put in the hard work that it takes to continue to improve on both ends of the floor. I expect Isaiah to have a great season at John Paul II Middle School and hope that he chooses OCA again next year. Congratulations Isaiah!
