The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Offensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the offensive end of the court. This player not only has the ability and confidence to take and make big shots for his team, but is willing to share the basketball and put his teammates in position to score. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2011 OCA 7th Grade Boys Best Offensive Player Award is Braden Hatton from Middletown Middle School.
Whether it was knocking down a big shot from the perimeter, delivering a pass to a teammate for a basket, or hitting a clutch free throw, Braden was always up to the challenge. He has the confidence to take and make shots in difficult situations. He more than doubled his scoring average in the second half of the season and finished as the second leading scorer on the team. He also hit two or more three-pointers in a game 7 times this season and made a team high 27 three-pointers overall.
I believe that Braden will continue to improve as a basketball player due to his competitive drive and strong work ethic. I expect Braden to have a great season at Middletown Middle School and hope that he chooses OCA again next year. Congratulations Braden!
