The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Defensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the defensive end of the court. This player through effort, hard work, and ability is able to disrupt the opposing team and take them out of their offense by shutting down his opponent one-on-one or contributing to his team's success with great help side defense. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2013 OCA 9th Grade Boys Best Defensive Player Award is Chase Bellamy from Goshen High School.

The number one ingredient to a solid defensive player is desire. Chase may not be the biggest, fastest or the strongest, but no one is ever going to question his desire on the basketball court. Game after game Chase was asked to guard the biggest and the strongest guy on the opposing team, and not only did he do it, he never once complained about it.  Instead, Chase took it as a challenge to do his best to shut that opposing player down and to keep him off of the offensive boards. Chase’s will and determination carried him through many games when he was physically outmatched. Chase led our team in rebounding and was second on the team in blocked shots. Congratulations Chase!
