The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Offensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the offensive end of the court. This player not only has the ability and confidence to take and make big shots for his team, but is willing to share the basketball and put his teammates in position to score. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2013 11th Grade Boys Best Offensive Player Award is Tommy Hacker from Amelia High School.
We relied on Tommy to be our main inside presence this season and he almost always rose to the occassion. He was consistently defended by our opponent's biggest player, but he was able to use his quickness and athleticism to maneuver around and jump over them to score the basketball. Tommy plays the game with a tremendous amount of energy and has a huge heart. His effort and intensity around the basket helped lead our team to a great season this year. In a game at the Spiece Memorial Day Madness Tournament, he scored 22 points, went 7 for 11 from the field, and 8 for 10 from the free throw line to lead the team to a big victory against Spiece Higher Level. Tommy led the team in field goal percentage, free throws attempted and made, offensive rebounds, and was 2nd on the team in scoring this season (minimum 21 games played). I enjoyed coaching Tommy this season and expect him to have a fantastic Senior season at Amelia High School and to have the opportunity to continue his career on the next level. Congratulations Tommy!
