The Ohio Crossover Athletics Most Valuable Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on both ends of the floor and is indispensable to the team's overall success.  This player has talent, intelligence, work ethic, and leads by example on and off the court.  I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2013 11th Grade Boys Most Valuable Player Award is Tyler Flanigan from Glen Este High School.

Tyler was our most consistent all-around player this season. He led the team in scoring, was second on the team in assists and steals, and was third on the team in rebounding. Tyler can score from inside and outside. Whether it was hitting one of his team leading 41 three-pointers, driving from the wing, posting up, or grabbing an offensive rebound and putting it back in, Tyler always found a way to help his team on the offensive end. He is also a very versatile defender who can guard multiple positions and the rest of the team fed off of his intensity. Tyler made everyone around him better and his leadership and communication with teammates was invaluable. He was always willing to sacrifice his body to take a charge, dive for a loose ball, jump to save a bad pass, or defend a bigger player. His all-around game was on display against the Northside Spartans Premier from Michigan at the Spiece Memorial Day Madness Tournament. He was 8 for 13 from the field, 1 for 3 from the three-point line, 7 for 9 from the free throw line, and had 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals to lead the team to a big win. Tyler is a coach's dream. He's a smart, talented player who listens, looks you in the eye, and always gives great effort. He always represented our program in a first class manner on and off the court. I enjoyed coaching Tyler this season and expect him to have a fantastic Senior season at Glen Este High School and to have the opportunity to continue his career on the next level. Congratulations Tyler!
