The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Defensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the defensive end of the court. This player through effort, hard work, and ability is able to disrupt the opposing team and take them out of their offense by shutting down his opponent one-on-one or contributing to his team's success with great help side defense. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2014 OCA 10th Grade Boys Best Defensive Player Award is Nick Morris.
The number one ingredient to a solid defensive player is desire. Nick may not be the biggest, fastest or the strongest, but no one is ever going to question his desire on the basketball court. Game after game Nick was asked to guard every position on the floor. Being a six-foot guard at times this was a major challenge, and Nick never once complained. Instead, Nick took it as a challenge to do his best to lockdown opposing guards, and keep opposing big men off the offensive boards. Nick’s will and determination carried him through many games when he was physically outmatched. Nick led our team in rebounding and was
second on the team in steals. Congratulations Nick!
