The Ohio Crossover Athletics Most Valuable Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on both ends of the floor and is indispensable to the team's overall success. This player has talent, intelligence, work ethic, and leads by example on and off the court. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2015 11th Grade Boys Most Valuable Player Award is DeAnthony McCallum from Anderson High School.
DeAnthony is always smiling on the basketball court, but don't let that smile fool you. He is an intense competitor who will do whatever is necessary to help hiis team win the game. DeAnthony was our most consistent all-around player this year and one of the most versatile guards that I've ever coached. He either led the team or was near the top of almost every statistical category this season. He led our team in total points, field goal percentage, made free throws, total steals, total blocks, and tied for the team lead in rebounds per game (min. 20 games played). He was also second on the team in 3-point field goal percentage and total rebounds. He scored in double figures in 16 games and recorded either a steal or a blocked shot in 23 of the 27 games that he played in this season. DeAnthony showed off his versatility at the AAU Division 1 National Championship Tournament as he scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against the Boston Warriors and he recorded 18 points and 12 rebounds against the Arkansas Mustangs.
DeAnthony is a coach's dream and represented our program in a first class manner on and off the court. I enjoyed coaching him this season and expect him to have a fantastic Senior season at Anderson High School and to have the opportunity to continue his career on the next level. Congratulations DeAnthony!
