The winner of the Best Offensive Player Award is...

The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Offensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the offensive end of the court.  This player not only has the ability and confidence to take and make big shots for his team, but is willing to share the basketball and put his teammates in position to score.  I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2015 11th Grade Boys Best Offensive Player Award is Brandon Holaday from Turpin High School.

I believe that point guard is the most challenging position in basketball because that player has to be an extension of the coach on the floor. He is responsible for calling plays, getting his teammates involved in the offense, and being able to step up and hit shots when necessary. Brandon excelled in all of these areas. He led our team in total assists and was second on the team in scoring (min. 20 games played), total 3-pointers, and total free throws. He also scored in double figures in 14 of the 26 games he played in this season and dished out at least 3 assists in 18 games this year. When we were trying to close out an opponent, Brandon was at his best. At the AAU Division 1 National Championship Tournament, he scored 12 points, dished out 3 assists, had 3 steals, and hit all 5 of his free throw attempts against Maine Basketball Report. Brandon also hit a game winining 3-point shot at the buzzer against HLB (Ky) in a Super Regional Tournament!

I enjoyed coaching Brandon this year and I expect him to have a fantastic Senior season at Turpin High School and to have the opportunity to continue his career on the next level. Congratulations Brandon!
