The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Offensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the offensive end of the court. This player not only has the ability and confidence to take and make big shots for his team, but is willing to share the basketball and put his teammates in position to score. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2016 11th Grade Boys (Callahan) Best Offensive Player Award is Alex Johnson from Little Miami High School!
Alex was one of our main options on offense. He is a versatile player that has the ability to score inside and from the three-point line. His shot selection also improved this year. He was able to recognize when defenders were overplaying him on the perimeter or were closing out too aggressively and he made them pay by putting the ball on the floor and going strong to the basket. At the AAU National Championship Tournament, Alex scored 18 points and pulled down a team high 13 rebounds in our final game against the G.O.S.H. Warriors from New York to help our team finish 5th in the Nation!
I enjoyed coaching Alex this year and I expect him to have a fantastic Senior season at Little Miami High School and to have the opportunity to continue his career on the next level. Congratulations Alex!
