The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Defensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the defensive end of the court. This player through effort, hard work, and ability is able to disrupt the opposing team and take them out of their offense by shutting down his opponent one-on-one or contributing to his team's success with great help side defense. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2017 OCA 7th Grade Boys (Rudolph) Best Defensive Player Award is Oliver Harris from Highlands Middle School!
Oliver was one of our team leaders in rebounds and steals this season. He also finished 2nd on the team in scoring. His versatility made him a threat anywhere on the floor. Oliver is a very smart player who has a really good understanding of the game and that, combined with an aggressive mindset and physical mentality, poses a major threat for opponents. His ability to outwork bigger players was very impressive and gave the team confidence to compete against older teams several times this season. Oliver is extremely coachable and set the tone for our team on defense through his rugged play; which was vital to the success of our team this season. Congratulations Oliver!
