The Ohio Crossover Athletics Most Valuable Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on both ends of the floor and is indispensable to the team's overall success. This player has talent, intelligence, work ethic, and leads by example on and off the court. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2017 10th Grade Boys (Callahan) Most Valuable Player Award is Clarke Jefferson from Purcell Marian High School!
Clarke was the driving force behind our offense this season. As our point guard, he was our primary ball handler so he initiated most of our offense in the half court. However, he is at his best in transition. His ability to quickly advance the ball up the floor led to a ton of easy baskets for himself and his teammates. Clarke is also an unselfish player. Not only was he one of our leading scorers, but he also led our team in assists this season.
On the defensive end, Clarke was always willing to take on the responsibility of guarding the opposing team's best perimeter player. His combination of athleticism, hustle and energy earned our team several extra possessions.
I enjoyed coaching Clarke this season and I'm looking forward to watching him play for his school team this year! Congratulations Clarke!
