The Ohio Crossover Athletics Most Valuable Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on both ends of the floor and is indispensable to the team's overall success. This player has talent, intelligence, work ethic, and leads by example on and off the court. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2017 11th Grade Boys (Callahan) Most Valuable Player Award is Kyle Johnson from Madeira High School!

Kyle was at or near the top of almost every statistical category for our team this season. He led our team in scoring at 12.3 ppg while shooting 51.9% from the field! He was also one of our best and most active defenders and the rest of the team fed off of his intensity. Kyle was first on our team in steals (1.7 spg), deflections (2.3 dpg), and was second on the team in rebounding (5.0 rpg).

Kyle was one of our most consistent offensive and defensive players this season. He scored in double figures 19 times and grabbed four or more rebounds 16 times, but he was at his best during the AAU State Championship Tournament. Kyle scored 28 points, had 13 rebounds, dished out 4 assists and had 1 steal, 1 block, and 2 deflections to lead our team to a big victory over the Columbus Kings. He completely dominated the game on both ends of the floor!

Kyle is a fierce competitor and one of the most athletic guards I have ever coached. I had to remind myself that he was a high school player at times because some of the dunks that he had were simply amazing. He is the kind of player that makes everyone around him better. As a coach you want guys who are coachable, play hard, play smart, and are great teammates and Kyle is all of these things. He always represented our program in a first class manner on and off of the court.

I enjoyed coaching Kyle this year and I expect him to have a fantastic Senior season at Madeira High School and to have the opportunity to continue his career on the next level. Congratulations Kyle!
