The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Defensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the defensive end of the court. This player through effort, hard work, and ability is able to disrupt the opposing team and take them out of their offense by shutting down his opponent one-on-one or contributing to his team's success with great help side defense. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2018 6th Grade Boys (Johnson) Best Defensive Player Award is Maddix Crowe from East Clinton Middle School!

Maddix is a hustle player that always gave maximum effort regardless of what defense we were playing or who he was guarding. He improved every week as he gained a better understanding of what I wanted out of him and what he needed to do to make our team successful. Maddix did an excellent job of protecting the paint on drives and sprinting the floor in transition to get back on defense. He is extremely coachable and a team player. I'm excited to see Maddix continue to improve as a basketball player! Congratulations Maddix!
