The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Defensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the defensive end of the court. This player through effort, hard work, and ability is able to disrupt the opposing team and take them out of their offense by shutting down his opponent one-on-one or contributing to his team's success with great help side defense. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2018 6th Grade Boys (Moore) Best Defensive Player Award is Gavin Dalen from Pattison Elementary!

Gavin is a very smart player who was typically assigned our opponent's best offensive player on defense. He has good quickness for his size and does a great job of challenging shots. Gavin also plays very hard and was one of the best rebounders on our team this season. His ability to bring the ball up the court off the dribble after a defensive rebound fueled our transition offense. Also, as the season progressed, Gavin became more comfortable with his midrange shot and consistently knocked down open jumpers. I'm excited to see him continue to grow as a basketball player. Congratulations Gavin!
