The Ohio Crossover Athletics Most Valuable Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on both ends of the floor and is indispensable to the team's overall success. This player has talent, intelligence, work ethic, and leads by example on and off the court. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2018 6th Grade Boys (Moore) Most Valuable Player Award is Tyler McKinley from Frederick Douglass Elementary!
Tyler worked through injuries and soreness all season and was still our most productive player on both ends of the floor. All of our opponent's were focused on stopping him, but he always made the right play. When teams would increase their ball pressure and help side defense in an attempt to limit his effectiveness, he would find his teammates for wide open shots. Tyler can also score from anywhere on the court through a variety of moves that most players his age have yet to master and is a very good perimeter shooter.
On the defensive end, Tyler blocked shots, got numerous deflections, and was the best rebounder on our team. His ability to bring the ball up the floor and find open teammates fueled our transition offense. Tyler is a complete player that did a little bit of everything to help our team be successful and is extremely coachable. I'm excited to see Tyler continue to improve as a basketball player! Congratulations Tyler
