The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Defensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the defensive end of the court. This player through effort, hard work, and ability is able to disrupt the opposing team and take them out of their offense by shutting down his opponent one-on-one or contributing to his team's success with great help side defense. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2018 9th Grade Boys (Smorey) Best Defensive Player Award is Ryan Boone from Eastern Brown High School!
Ryan is an aggressive, hardnosed player that can change the game on the defensive end of the floor. His quickness and active hands in passing lanes led to many easy baskets for himself and his teammates in transition. He is a high IQ basketball player that can be called upon to play and excel in any defense. When we needed a stop or a key steal, Ryan usually came through to make the defensive play of the game. He was a big part of our team’s success this season. I’m excited to see Ryan continue to grow as a basketball player. Congratulations Ryan!
