The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Defensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the defensive end of the court. This player through effort, hard work, and ability is able to disrupt the opposing team and take them out of their offense by shutting down his opponent one-on-one or contributing to his team's success with great help side defense. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2018 10th Grade Boys (Callahan) Best Defensive Player Award is Jerryd Burns from Clermont Northeastern High School!

When Jerryd came in to the game, his teammates fed off of his intensity. He is a physical player that enjoys contact and always gives 100% effort. His hustle and energy earned our team several extra offensive possessions. He is a strong, quick guard that is also able to bang down low with much bigger players. It didn’t matter what position that I put Jerryd in or who I asked him to guard, he was always willing to accept the challenge. He was one of our team leaders in rebounding and steals. Simply put, we were a better team because of Jerryd. I enjoyed coaching Jerryd this season and I’m looking forward to watching him play for his school team this year. Congratulations Jerryd!
