The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Offensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the offensive end of the court. This player not only has the ability and confidence to take and make big shots for his team, but is willing to share the basketball and put his teammates in position to score. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2018 11th/12th Grade Boys (Callahan) Best Offensive Player Award is Jay Tiemeyer from West Clermont High School!

When Jay gets hot, watch out! He is a scoring machine that can beat you off the dribble and from the perimeter. He was the second leading scorer on our team at 13.7 points per game and one of most consistent players. He scored in double figures in 25 games this season! He was not only one of our most consistent players, but he was also one of our most efficient. Jay shot nearly 50% from the field and over 36% from beyond the arc. Jay really improved as a playmaker this year as well. He averaged 3 assists per game and did a much better job of taking care of the basketball. Because he was such a dominant scorer, Jay drew a lot of defensive attention. When the help defense came, he did a great job of finding his teammates for easy scoring opportunities.

Jay plays his best in big moments. He increased his scoring average to 16.5 points per game during the NCAA certified events in July and scored in double figures in every game. He also scored a season high 25 points to lead our team to a 58-57 victory over Indiana Faith in the semi-finals of the Gold Bracket at the All-In Hoopfest.

I am so proud of the player and man that he’s become and that I had the opportunity to coach him. He always represented our program in a first class manner on and off of the court. I know that he is going to do big things next year on the court at Thomas More College and that he will ultimately be immensely successful in whatever profession in life that he decides to pursue. Congratulations Jay!
