The Ohio Crossover Athletics Most Improved Player Award is given to a player who has made significant strides in his game from the beginning of the AAU season to the end. These improvements are not only based on statistics, but also include the player's mental approach, intensity, and will to win that he brings to each and every game. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2019 11th Grade Boys (Callahan) Most Improved Player Award is Jerryd Burns from Clermont Northeastern High School!
Jerryd steadily improved throughout the course of the season. He has always been a good shooter, but there were times when he seemed hesitant to take shots in certain situations. However, as the season progressed you could see his confidence starting to grow. He became one of our go-to guys in crunch time. He was a player that you expected to score every time he shot the ball.
Jerryd was at his best at the All-In Hoopfest in July. He shot 40% from the three-point line (14 out of 35) and hit 7 three-pointers and scored a team high 23 points against JSBA Grey. Overall, Jerryd was second on the team in three-point percentage (36%) and in three-pointers made (111) this season.
I’m glad that I had the opportunity to coach Jerryd again this year. He always represented our program in a first-class manner on and off the court. I’m excited to see Jerryd continue to improve as a basketball player and I expect him to have a fantastic senior season at Clermont Northeastern High School! Congratulations Jerryd!
