The Ohio Crossover Athletics Best Defensive Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on the defensive end of the court. This player through effort, hard work, and ability, is able to disrupt the opposing team and take them out of their offense by shutting down his opponent one-on-one or contributing to his team's success with great help side defense. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2019 11th Grade Boys (Callahan) Best Defensive Player Award is Brenton Foust from Loveland High School!
Brenton can change the game on the defensive end of the floor. He was always willing to take on the challenge of guarding the best wing player on the opposing team and his leadership and communication with his teammates on the court was invaluable. His great footwork allows him to stop dribble penetration and his quick hands led to numerous deflections and steals that fueled our transition offense.
However, Brenton’s most impressive trait is his energy and effort. He led our team in steals (56) and was second on the team in deflections (60). He also was third on the team in total rebounds (104) from the point guard position!
I’m glad that I had the opportunity to coach Brenton again this year. He is a hard worker and a natural leader that was a big part of our team’s success. I’m excited to see Brenton continue to improve as a basketball player and I expect him to have a fantastic senior season at Loveland High School! Congratulations Brenton!
