The Ohio Crossover Athletics Most Valuable Player Award is given to a player who exemplifies excellence on both ends of the floor and is indispensable to the team's overall success. This player has talent, intelligence, work ethic, and leads by example on and off the court. I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2019 11th Grade Boys (Callahan) Most Valuable Player Award is D.J. Vianello from West Clermont High School!

D.J. was a force on both ends of the floor for our team this season. He attacks the basket hard and can finish through, up, or around contact. He is also a very good shooter from both the mid-range and the three-point line. On the defensive end, he is a versatile player that can guard multiple positions. When D.J. was in the game the rest of the players fed off his intensity. He was one of our best rebounders and his active hands on defense led to several deflections and steals that he often turned into easy baskets for himself or his teammates.

D.J. was our most consistent player. He scored in double figures in 20 out of 29 games and he also had 10 games of 20 or more points. He led our team in almost every statistical category this season. He was first in scoring (14.9 ppg), field goal percentage (46.6%), and three-point field goal percentage (40.9%). He was also second on the team in total rebounds (209), assists (120), and steals (47).

I’m glad I had the opportunity to coach D.J. again this year. He only knows one way to play the game of basketball and that is full speed all the time. I’m excited to see D.J. continue to improve as a basketball player and I expect him to have a fantastic senior season at West Clermont High School! Congratulations D.J.!
